It’s more chill to be gay in some countries than others, but for the most part, attitudes around homosexuality and bisexuality are improving globally. As stigma around sexuality dissolves, more people are being exposed to openly gay, bisexual and transgender people — and, consequently, becoming okay with them.
Although sexually, uh, liberal in many ways, Japan is a country that’s still struggling with acceptance of gay people. Things are definitely improving, but there’s still a ways to go. That said, if this guy is in charge, I think the country will be doing just fine.
